Myrna Kuo, M.D.
Dr. Myrna Kuo was born and raised on O‘ahu, attended the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine and has a successful internal medicine practice with multiple locations. As an internist she strives to understand her patients’ perspective, provide options and coach them in their health journey. Dr. Kuo blends her years of medical training with her passion for aesthetics to pamper today’s busy women and men, using innovative clinical aesthetic services fused with laser technology. She also focuses on educating and providing young people with thoughtful, painless, and effective acne treatments. Dr. Kuo’s philosophy is simple, to help all of her patients achieve healthy beautiful skin so they can look and feel their very best every day.
Frequently asked questions
You will experience a slight tingle as the needle injects the PepFactor Skin® under the skin. Most patients say that it is a 1 or 2 out of 10 on the pain scale and can tolerate the treatment without a topical anesthetic. If sensitive to pain, we do offer topical anesthetic.
We use a minimally invasive microinjection procedure to help PepFactor penetrate deeper into the skin layers. Even effective ingredients applied only to the surface of the skin can only do so much. The microinjections allow the active ingredients of Pepfactor to penetrate deeply into the skin where they can most effectively help with skin regeneration and collagen synthesis. If you are familiar with PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatments, PepFactor improves the skin with similar purified growth factors without the need for large volume blood draws.
To facilitate the post-treatment recovery process an additional Defenage post-procedure kit is recommended.

“Went in to address acne scaring along temples. Dr. Myrna was very professional explaining the procedure/downtime. Dr. Myrna spent 15m painlessly injecting under the serum under the skin. Was pleasantly surprised how fast and painless that was. Certain spots were more sensitive (nose, forehead), I'm guessing less padding.
After the first treatment, I went home with some small red areas, but after a few hours most of it went away. Concerned about downtime, I bought the Defanage post home repair kit and tested it on half my face overnight(to see if it works, I'm skeptical). The following morning, the Defanage side was much less red, besides me no one could tell that I had a procedure done. “I’ve had cystic acne since I was 18. I’ve seen multiple dermatologists, completed 2 rounds of accutane, and tried numerous topical treatments (salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, dapsone, azelaic acid, tretinoin, etc). Hoping that one, or a combination of these treatments might be a “cure” for my acne, I had planned on getting a laser treatment to minimize my scars once my acne subsided — but it never did (or, at least not for a prolonged time period).
